Twelve Hours of Sebring 2016

The 64 th Running of the 12 Hours of Sebring was a fun exciting race from start to finish. The early hours were filled with wrenching and getting the cars prepped for battle. The smell of the race fuel in the air and a sunrise like only Sebring Raceway could provide is something every race fan should experience once in a lifetime

After a quick early morning practice it was time to take the grid. One of my favorite experience as a fan and now as media. The fans get up close and personal with the cars and drivers racing in the event. Never know what kind of celebrity or sports legend might show up to the party.

Gettleman and ladies start your engines. In the beginning of the race, all the teams were setting a very fast pace. With the rain just on the west coast of Florida the dash to be out front was full speed ahead. Once the weather passed over the state to Sebring most of the cars came to pit road and switched over to there continental rain tires from there normal slicks

As the weather gradually got worse and worse with lightning and heavy rains IMSA had to make a decision about track safety with visibility almost down to none we went under a two hour delay.

Once racing resumed all the cars that were once spread out were all bunch together again which made for highly exciting racing . FB_IMG_1458931382989FB_IMG_1458931246044

After the rains passed some cars had mechanical and on track failures that tested the endurance of even the strongest competitors. Those that survived into the night had a chance at class and overall victories. FB_IMG_1458931263613

In late race activities the Patron Tequila ESM Prototype made a pass for the record books passing not one but both the Action Express Corvette DP’s to complete the Florida sweep after winning in Daytona and continuing there winning ways.
