Formula Drift:Orlando

From coast to coast, from Long Beach tireslayer’s make the trek across the states and ascend upon central Florida.Last year’s FDORL Champion Chris Forsberg and his NOS ENERGY 370Z looked to repeat.Meanwhile FD Long Beach winner Odi Bakchis in his FalkenTire Nissan S15 was looking to continue his winning streak.Hometown favorite Pat Goodin looked strong throughout the weekend, making all the way to the top 16.Ryan Tuerek and his Gumout sponsored Toyota 86 made the show after a terrible crash at the opening round in Long Beach. In which the primary drift car was damaged beyond repair so Ryan and team had to come up with options for Round 2 in Orlando.Well before you know it they took his personal demo Toyota 86 and stripped in down and used what was good on the primary car. The team literally finished the car as it was set to leave for the cross country trip.In homage to the donor car he left the grey roof intact for the weekend. One of the amazing battles of the day was between Toyota drivers Ken Gushi and Jonathan Castro. Where both drivers were door to door for both of there lead and Chase runs, ultimately coming down to a one more time decision, kinda like overtime when a drift battle is way too close to call by the three judges.Eventually Ken Gushi would take the win but the fans were the weekend seeing great battles all throughout the day. Spoke to Ken during the halftime and he said “Everyone is on their game this weekend, and if I want to get where I want to be def gotta put in the work.”next up was the battle with Vaughn Gittin Jr. And Ryan Litteral ended when Vaughn tapped the wall and came down and caught Ryan with his passenger front in result damaging both front corners of his Monster Energy Mustang RTR.As his car was hauled off the track by forklift and chains everyone thought his day at Orlando would be done.Well just like in Ryan Tuerek’s case there was no quit in Vaughn’s team. They rebuilt the car with some spare parts off his teammate’s Chelsea’s mustang and as he drove into the oval track-like stadium the crowd erupted with cheers.after that he put the hammer down and qualified for the top 32.After the top32 are set FormulaD has a sort of halftime time period where the drivers are available for meet and great with the fans. One of the new cars that was catching a buzz was this Chevrolet Camaro with a all electric motor.BCRacing had this all Carbon 240Z in there booth. After the halftime break the drivers hopped back into there high horsepower tire shredding machines. So the top 32 started and after strong battles from all the competitors the final four came down to last year’s winner Chris Forsberg, Long Beach winner Obi Bakchis, and the two Mustangs driven by Chelsea DeNofa and Vaughn Getting Jr.Chelsea lost out to Forsberg and Odi edged out Gittin Jr. To set up for an epic battle to finish off a great day.Odi and Chris battled till Forsberg suffered a debeaded tire midrun and un-abling him to continue.Top Three Podium Round 2: OrlandoFirst place : Odi BakchisSecond place : Chris ForsbergThird place : Chelsea DeNofa
